Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh is at the final leg of his Dil-Luminati India tour and he recently performed in Chandigarh on December 14. Almost 4 days post his concert, the organisers have been charged Rs 25,000 for creating a mess at the Sector-34 Exhibition Ground by Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MC).

Diljit Dosanjh’s Chandigarh concert organisers fined Rs 25,000

Diljit Dosanjh has received a challan from the municipal corporation for violation of the Solid Waste Management Bylaws 2018, as per Hindustan Times. Municipal Commissioner Amit Kumar imposed the fine after receiving complaints about littering from city dwellers and local councillor Prem Lata, even though the individual had paid garbage cess fees and had been granted prior permission by the civic body.

Councillor Prem Lata stated, “No permission was granted for December 15 or December 16, but still the ground was full of garbage, trucks, tents, and other concert items. The boundary fencing was found broken and other defacement was noticed, and the ground was a complete mess.”

Diljit also allegedly breached the prescribed noise limits and as per the HC of Punjab and Haryana, the noise level should not exceed 75 decibels. The court had warned of penal action in case of any breach and the noise levels ranged between 70 and 82 decibels, as per the CPCC report, under the violation of Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000.

A report from CPCC has been received by DC Nishant Yadav, he said, “Now the sub-divisional magistrate will file a formal complaint with the adjudicating officer, who is the secretary of environment, who will impose penal action against the organisers. The report clearly indicates that the noise levels exceeded the permissible limit of 75 decibels, even reaching up to 82 decibels.”
